Life Giving Rain
.

January 17 & 18

           That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You;
           that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that
           You sent Me.  John 17:21 NKJV

It is always amazing to me driving through the Arizona desert how on one side of the highway it is exactly that, an Arizona desert, the landscape covered with rocks, sand, cacti, and water deprived brush. But then, I look on the other side and it is green and lush, full of life producing crops. Of course, the difference is water. No wonder Jesus used rain as a symbol to represent the working of the Holy Spirit in the life. The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives results in life.  But, to have more and more of His indwelling we must yield to His molding and leading all along the way. Giving more and more of ourselves to Jesus as the Spirit leads us. This is why Jesus said the only sin that cannot be forgiven is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven. Luke 12:10 NKJV

To resist the leading and working of the Holy Spirit of God is a dangerous path to travel for it will eventually lead to rejecting His working in your life. And to do this is to reject Jesus, your only hope of salvation. We must desire to daily and even moment-by-moment yield to His promptings because in doing so we are yielding to Jesus and His saving grace to work in our lives. As we begin to have this experience we are brought, by His power, into oneness with Him and our fellow believers and fulfill Jesus’ prayer for you and me:

And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. John 17:22-23 NKJV
